After split from FSJ, association football of Bosnia founded in 1992. Became a member of UEFA Affiliation in 1998 and FIFA Affiliation in 1996.
Until 1992 The football federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina was founded and represents the governing body for Bosnia and herzegovina football association in international competition and is controlled by the Football federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. During this period, a championship was played between clubs affiliated
to the NFSBiH and the separate Herceg Bosna Football Federation, and won
by Zeljeznicar in 1998. Bosnia and Herzegovina national football team has never qualified for a major tournament, but has come close on multiple occasions.

Bosnia and herzegovina home stadium is Bilino Polje Stadium in the city of Zenica. The national team's first international victory as FIFA member came against FIFA World Cup 1994 runners-up Italy on November 1996. The national team showed similar togetherness in UEFA EURO 2004
qualifying. Had Bosnia and Herzegovina beaten Denmark in their final
match they would have qualified, yet a 1-1 draw took the Danes through.
The team have also excelled in FIFA World Cup action. They finished
third in their qualification section for the 2006 finals after losing
two of ten games.
