Poland National Football Team Profile

Profile of the Poland national football team history of PZPN Polski Zwiazek Pilki Noznej is the Polish football association was founded 1919 and represents governing body for football in Poland in a international competition and is controlled by PZPN. Became a member of UEFA Affiliation in 1954 and FIFA Affiliation in 1923.

Poland made their international debut against Hungary on december 18 1921, a 1-0 defeat in Budapest. Their first international win come on May 28 1922 against Sweden in Stockholm and beat them 2–1. Poland qualified for their first ever World Cup in 1937 against Yugoslavia, won by a score 4-0. And 1–0 in the two qualifying matches and ensured their place in the 1938 World Cup in France.

The national team made an impression in the 1930s.  finished in a fourth spot at the 1936 Berlin Olympics, before reaching the last 16 of the FIFA World Cup in France two years later. Here they lost 6-5 to Brazil after extra time. In the mid-1970's that held England to a draw at Wembley to qualify for the World Cup in 1974. They defeated Brazil 1–0 to claim third place in the world cup tournament. Poland also finished 3rd in the world cup 1982 beating France 3–2 in the third-place play-off.

Poland's home stadium is National Stadium in Warsaw. Poland also won the gold medal in the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, the silver medal in 1976 in Montreal, and a silver medal in 1992 in Barcelona. Poland won the UEFA European Under-16 Championship (now a U17 event) in 1993, were runners-up in the same competition six years later, and also collected the U18 title in 2001.
