Profile of the Portugal national football team history, top score, most caps / appearances, FPF Federacao Portuguesa de Futebol is the Portugal football association was founded on march 1914 and represents governing body for football in Portugal in a international competition and is controlled by FPF. Became a member of UEFA Affiliation in 1954 and FIFA Affiliation in 1923.

The Federacao Portuguesa de Futebol (FPF), the national body's official name from 28 May 1926,  started life as the Uniao Portuguesa de Futebol (UPF) being formed on 31 March 1914 on the initiative of the three regional associations. Their first World Cup appearance, in the 1966 FIFA World Cup, saw them reach the semi-finals, losing 2–1 at Wembley to the eventual world champions, England.

Portugal's national-team debut was a 3-1 friendly loss to Spain in Madrid on 18 December 1921. Their first notable achievement was to qualify for the Olympic football tournament in Amsterdam in 1928. Portugal also qualified for the World Cups of 1986, 2002, 2006 and 2010. There have also been five UEFA European Championship appearances, Portugal reached the semi-finals of EURO '84, going down 3-2 after extra time to hosts France.

Portugal's home stadium is the Estadio Nacional in Oeiras. Portugal have produced some of the most talented players to grace the game of football such as Eusebio, Luis Figo, Ricardo Carvalho, Rui Costa, Pauleta, Deco, Nani, Moutinho, Cristiano Ronaldo and more.
