Moldova National Football Team Profile

Profile of the Moldova national football team history FMF Federatia Moldoveneasca de Fotbal is the association football in this country's was founded on 14 april 1990 and represents governing body for football in Moldova in a international competition and is controlled by FMF. Became a member of UEFA Affiliation in 1993 and FIFA Affiliation in 1994.

Moldova was one of the 15 Soviet Socialist Republics of the USSR, so its local association had been part of the Football Federation of the USSR. After the split of the Soviet Union, and played their first match as a new nation against Georgia on July 2, 1991. Twelve months later the team improved on that 4-2 home defeat by the Georgians as they drew 1-1 with Lithuania.

Next it was the turn of the national squad to take their competitive tournament in EURO '96 qualifying, a 1-0 win in Georgia in Tbilisi and Wales (3–2) in Chisinau marked the perfect start. Subsequent UEFA European Championship and FIFA World Cup qualifying tests against countries such as Germany, Italy and England have proved invaluable for Moldova's education.

The Moldova team's has never qualified for the final stages of the FIFA World Cup and UEFA European Championship. The Moldova's home Stadium is Zimbru Stadium in Chisinau.
